Apprenticeship Support for Employers

As an accredited apprenticeship provider, we help employers to find the new staff they need. We provide all the necessary training support and co-ordination to keep apprentices progressing.

An apprentice must:

be 16 or over
not already be in full-time education
be living in England

Our goal is to ensure that apprenticeships work for both the employer and the individual. Your business gets the skills and added capacity it needs, while the individual starts a training programme with credible prospects of securing a meaningful full-time job.

As part of this process, we’ll take the time to understand your skills and staffing needs, then develop bespoke training programmes that turn candidates into the skilled workers you need.

What’s more, we’ll help you to take advantage of any related funding. (For example, employers receive a government incentive of £1,000 for recruiting an apprentice aged 16-18, or an apprentice aged 19 to 24 with an education, health and care plan.)

Who can access the funds?

Access to the funds depends on whether or not you are a levy-paying employer. (You pay the levy if your pay bill exceeds £3 million per year.)

If you are a levy-paying employer, you can receive funds to pay for apprenticeship training and assessment. However, you cannot use your account to pay for other costs associated with your apprentice (e.g. wages, travel and subsidiary costs etc.) If the cost exceeds the funding, you will need to pay the difference with funds from your own budget.

Non-levy employers will share the cost of training and assessing their apprentice with government; this is known as a ‘co-investment’. You pay 10% towards the cost and the government will pay the rest.

One the apprentice is appointed, you’re responsible for paying them for their normal working hours and for any training they undertake as part of their apprenticeship.

Support at every stage

The Apprenticeships.gov.uk website notes that apprenticeships are “suitable for people at any level so you can hire someone new or upskill an existing employee.” In either case, we can devise and deliver the necessary training.

If you’re looking for a new apprentice, that role will be advertised free of charge through the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) and the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS). We’ll help you to use the service to identify the best possible candidates. If you wish, we’ll be happy to manage the recruitment process on your behalf.
